2016/2017 SEASON EVENTS
Back in Blue – Nov 18th 6PM
The Back in Blue Rail Jam is Ober Gatlinburg’s signature opening season event! Held inside the tubing park and featuring a full rail jam setup, Back in Blue is the earliest on-snow freestyle competition in the southeast. Festivities and a practice session kick off at 6PM, with the rail jam starting at 7PM. The event is held inside Ober Gatlinburg’s spacious tubing park and provides full facilities and plenty of viewing area for spectators. Drawing competitors from Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee, Back in Blue showcases up and coming talent from our region. The event is free for both spectators and competitors and more information can be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org . This year’s sponsors will be Volunteer Chevrolet and Ole Smoky Distillery.

Free Flow Friday: One Hit Wonder – Jan 6th 7PM
Free Flow Fridays are your opportunity to progress under the lights at Ober Gatlinburg. We will include a “one hit wonder” contest. For Free Flow Friday, the park crew will set out a creative and progressive feature just for this event, best hit wins! Sponsors to be announced.
Ladies Night in the Park – Jan 10 & Feb 16
Ladies Night in the Park is the perfect opportunity to try out the jibs in the park in a no pressure, ladies only environment. The park crew will build and design progressive features to maximize the fun. Led by a female coach with plenty of support and motivation, Ladies Night in the Park is a great way to learn about freestyle riding or improve your park skills! ….PLUS, as an added bonus, on the same nights, check this out :
Ladies, want to ski for free and help out a local charity at the same time? Ladies of all ages will receive a free 6pm-10pm Lift Ticket with 10 canned goods or non-perishable items. So whether you want to hit the slopes with your College Buddies or Gal Pals come out for a night of fun and recreation to support the Sevier County Food Ministries.
Sunday Session: Slopestyle – Jan 22nd 1PM
Ober Gatlinburg’s signature freestyle competition series is back for another season. Held on Sunday afternoons, there are two opportunities to come out and compete for great prizes and bragging rights. As usual, the combined top finishers for both Sunday sessions will receive a 2017/18 Ober Gatlinburg season pass. The January session will be a slopestyle competition combining scores on the jump and jibs. February’s Sunday Session will focus on your aerial skills. Sponsors to be announced.
2nd Annual “King of the Mountain” – Jan 28th 11AM
Modeled on the Freeride World Tour, King of the Mountain will combine technical skiing and freestyle creativity to determine the best on the mountain. The course will be on Mogul Ridge and the upper half of Castle Run and competitors will be judged on five categories and given 2 runs on the course. The event is free but helmets and waivers are mandatory. Registration will start at 10 AM at the Slope Gate and the event will run from 11AM to 1 PM, with awards immediately following the conclusion in “The Loft.” We will be crowning a King of Mountain skier and snowboarder as well as a Queen of the Mountain.
Free Flow Friday: Hand-Plant Challenge – Feb 10th 7PM
Free Flow Fridays are your opportunity to progress under the lights at Ober Gatlinburg. We will be doing a hand-plant challenge contest. For Free Flow Friday, the park crew will build and shape Ober Gatlinburg’s quarter pipe. Save the dates and make sure you make it to the slopes for this special night. Sponsors to be announced.
Sunday Session: Air and Style – Feb 26th 1PM
Ober Gatlinburg’s traditional spring celebration returns for another season! Pond skimming, giant slalom, jump competition, plenty of food and drinks, and cool vendors will all be on display. Registration will start in early February and there will be loads of great prizes up for grabs. Compete against your friends or just come out for a fun day in the sun! Sponsors to be announced.
Spring Fling – Mar 5th 12PM
