The City of Gatlinburg is the perfect gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains or as they are suitably called the ‘Smokies’. These beloved mountains offer a unique experience for each visitor regardless of the season or time of day. The sight of fall foliage in this area is second to none and should be experienced from the best perspective; above. This is exactly what the Aerial Tramway at Ober Gatlinburg has to offer—a bird’s-eye view of nature in all its beauty.
Fall is an ideal time for hiking, taking a scenic drive through your favorite park. Whether you’re a nature-lover or you simply have an appreciation for awe-inspiring sights, you will fall in love with the views of the colorful trees. When it comes to fall in the Smokies, you can toss ‘typical’ out the window. Experience this transformative season through Ober’s eyes as these views are mesmerizing enough to take your breath away.

Fall View at Ober 2018
Our mountaintop park will allow you to enjoy outdoor adventures without breaking a sweat. In addition to the amazing views, the fall activities at Ober will ensure a wonderful experience for you and your family:
Soar Through the Smokies on the Aerial Tram
The Aerial Tram, which travels to an elevation of 2,813 feet above sea level for 2.1 miles to our mountaintop park, is the best way to enjoy the panoramic views of the Smoky Mountains in the fall. Imagine soaring above the trees with leaves of warm yellows, oranges, and reds. Relax as you cruise above the treetops and admire a landscape of fall colors, instead of just walking or driving around Gatlinburg. Who knows, you might just spot a bear wondering around or climbing a tree.

Sit Back and Relax on the Scenic Chairlift
Aptly named, the Scenic Chairlift provides a scenic view as it ascends to the top of Mount Harrison. Sit back, relax and admire the scenery as your feet dangle above the colorful fall leaves. Being the longest chairlift of its kind in the United States, at 3,019 feet, you will find this experience is like no other. You will appreciate the slow and smooth ride, topped only by the view from the peak. There you will enjoy an unspoiled view of Mount LeConte and the mountains of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina—you might even be able to spot Douglas Lake on a clear day.

Glide Through the Trees on the Ski Mountain Coaster
Oh, to be zooming along a mountain coaster with glee and a broad smile across your face. Sounds fun right?
Well, imagine an exhilarating ride combined with the fall scenery you only dare to dream of. That is what you’ll get when you take a ride on our Ski Mountain Coaster. This year-round ride starts off with a slow glide up through rows of trees, leaving you immersed in the autumnal tints of the forest. At the peak of your ascent to the top of the mountainside, the coaster car will automatically start speeding up for the next 2,750 feet downhill ride. This is the perfect time to control your own speed by using the handy manual brakes to enjoy the view. The ride offers quick glimpses of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park if you’re whipping alone the mountainside but slowing down allows you the real thrill—an overlook of treetops, the rolling slopes, and an incomparable view of the skyline above Gatlinburg.
