Advanced Snow Making Technology to Assure Opening Dates for 6th Annual “Back in Blue” and the Annual Snow Tubing Season

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (October 12, 2017)—Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area and Amusement park, a full-service year round facility located in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, offers Guests the unusual opportunity of Snow Tubing well before the Ski Area’s traditional opening date for the Slopes. Ober Gatlinburg’s investment in a patented snow making technology from SnowMagic (Upper Monclair, NJ), allows for rare predictability when referring to snow. The weekend before Thanksgiving will be the sixth year that Skiers, Snowboarders and Spectators will travel from hours away to participate in the “Back in Blue” rail jam November 17th, with the first Snow Tubing session of the season the next morning November 18th.

This temperature-independent, snow crystal making system can run continuously in above-freezing temperatures, long before Guests enjoy the activities on the snow. Technicians have located the largest of four Snow Magic units at the top of the beginner trail, Cub Way, preparing for the best possible early season conditions.
