At the top of Mt. Harrison, there is a band that reflects the soul of Gatlinburg. The Mountain Grass Band, for over 30 years, has blessed Ober Gatlinburg with their incredible bluegrass music. Ride up the scenic chairlift at Ober and your senses are filled with beautiful bluegrass music coupled with the amazing views of the Smoky Mountains. Recently, we have lost an iconic musician in Cuz Headrick. Cuz may have lost his battle with lung cancer, but his spirit and legacy remain at the top of Mt. Harrison. The Ober family and all our guests are sad to let go of such an amazing storyteller musician.
Cuz is known throughout the Smoky Mountains as a terrific person, family man, storyteller, and musician. Although his time with us has ended, his legacy lives on within The Mountain Grass Band. Cuz’s son, Charlie Brown, is joining the band full time to continue playing 7 days a week at Ober Gatlinburg. No one can replace a man as unique and kind as Cuz. However, it is comforting to know that his son and other band members will continue to greet Ober’s visitors with authentic Smoky Mountain Bluegrass.
Cuz has left a lasting impact on everyone who he met. He filled our hearts with music and stories that will always be remembered. We will sorely miss Cuz and wish the best for his family and friends in this difficult time.
