Winter is Coming…

By November 6, 2017Uncategorized

It’s one of our favorite times of the year. The autumn leaves are reaching peak levels of beauty and we are busy making snow in anticipation of the winter sports season. As skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing are approaching, we are beginning to get lots of questions about what to expect from those who are planning a visit to the area in the coming months. We thought it would be helpful to answer some of these questions as you gear up for a Winter filled with fun.

When does Snow Tubing begin?

We are really excited about the Back in Blue Rail Jam and Movie Night which will take place on November 17 at 6pm. This event kicks off the winter season and Snow Tubing will begin the day after on the 18th. You can purchase advance tickets for Snow Tubing here.

We have already started making snow to form the base layer for tubing, and as we clear away the Oktoberfest decor, we will begin making snow for the mountain slopes for skiing and snowboarding as temperatures allow.

When do Skiing and Snowboarding begin?
The short answer is that we will open as soon as we possibly can for the season, but it’s definitely dependent on weather. But generally speaking, we open for Skiing and Snowboarding around mid-December. We have started making snow with our warm-weather snowmaking technologies and as the temperatures drop, we’ll be able to utilize our traditional snowmaking equipment. Watch for 2 good cold days (29° and below with low humidity) and we’ll be able to cover the slopes in no time.

What about Ski Area/Lift Tickets? Can I purchase in advance?
We HIGHLY encourage those who are planning to ski as much as possible (more than 5 times) during the season to get a Season Pass! Buy before November 17th as the price increases from $299 to $349! They are available here. We do not sell single-day and multi-day tickets in advance, but more than likely, you will have no problem getting tickets day-of. We have never run out! Snow Tubing, IS a different animal… if you’re planning on Snow Tubing during your time at Ober, please plan to purchase your tickets in advance to reserve your desired time and date.

If I purchase a multi-day Ski Area ticket and rent my equipment, do I have to turn in my equipment overnight and re-check-out every day?
You do not have to turn in your equipment each day. You may choose to carry your rentals back to your hotel, but there’s also a courtesy storage area to place your items overnight for a small $5 fee.

Tell us what you are looking forward to most this season!

Also, can we just take a moment and enjoy the gorgeous autumn splendor that is surrounding us currently? It makes us feel incredibly fortunate to call this place our home.
